Arethusa Farm Foundation

Arethusa
Farm honors the legacy of its historic working farm by providing hands-on
agricultural education for all ages, preparing people for the workforce, and
fostering community partnerships that create lasting impact.

The
newly created Arethusa Farm Foundation, an established 501c3 corporation, is a
140 acre working farm in Litchfield. The Foundation was created to preserve its
rural character with the sole purpose to establish an agricultural education
center for elementary children, high school students, beginning farmers and the
wider adult community. With fifteen barns and extensive pastures, it is the
home of an expanding herd of beef cattle, sheep, hogs, poultry, vegetable
gardens and will provide classroom and laboratory space for agricultural
education for youth ages 5 to adults.

The educational programs offered at Arethusa include:

1.
Arethusa Farm Camp:

Throughout
the 10 weeks of summer, campers ages 5 to 13 enjoy meaningful, educational
hands-on activities at the farm where they have a safe and meaningful farm
experience discovering the pride and process of raising animals and producing
food. Our abundant harvest includes children’s smiles created from building new
skills, forging lifelong memories from hands-on experiences, making new friends
and connecting to the earth that feeds us all.

2.
High School Student Workforce Readiness Training:

We
provide an opportunity for local high school students and other young adults to
earn industry-based certifications to increase their marketability and future
success in workforce readiness in agriculture and related careers.

3.
Adult Education Programs:

We
provide a venue for offering adult education to the community at large in
subjects relating to agriculture and related interest areas.
