More Than a Summer Program: Growing Scholars and Future Teachers

Breakthrough Louisville is a free, six-week summer academic program that empowers under-resourced middle school students (rising 6th–8th graders) while inspiring the next generation of educators. Our dual mission is to help students build academic skills, confidence, and agency while providing college students with meaningful, hands-on teaching experience.

With a focus on Math and Language Arts, our small class sizes foster individualized attention, strong relationships, and a supportive learning environment. Led by dedicated Teaching Fellows, students strengthen their academic abilities and develop the confidence to succeed in school and beyond.

Our impact is measurable. Students complete Math and Language Arts assessments at the beginning and end of the program, consistently demonstrating academic growth, increased confidence, and greater ownership of their learning. Parents also report that their children return to school better prepared and more motivated to succeed.
