Housing is More Than a Roof. It's Stability. It's Health. It's Hope.
Every day in Mecklenburg County, families, veterans, seniors, young adults, and working individuals face an impossible choice: pay rent or buy groceries, purchase medication or keep the lights on, fix the car or avoid eviction.
For many, homelessness doesn't begin with sleeping outside.
It begins with one unexpected crisis.
At Building Hope Building Commitment (BHBC), we believe that housing is healthcare and that homelessness is preventable when communities respond before a crisis becomes a catastrophe.
Our work is different.
We don't simply help people find housing.
We help them keep it.
Through our nationally developing Retention-Centered Stabilization Model (RCSM™), we identify barriers early, remove obstacles, strengthen relationships, and walk alongside individuals and families until housing becomes sustainable—not temporary.
Last year alone, BHBC served hundreds of Mecklenburg County residents through housing placement, housing retention, resident services, veteran stabilization, landlord partnerships, and community collaboration. Our work supports people experiencing homelessness and those who are precariously housed before they lose everything.

Why Give 8/28 Matters
Give 8/28 is more than a day of generosity.
It is an opportunity to invest in people who are working hard to rebuild their lives.
Every contribution allows BHBC to respond quickly when someone is facing a housing crisis.
Your gift may provide:
Every Dollar Creates Stability
Your generosity has an immediate impact.
$25 can provide hygiene supplies or transportation assistance.
$50 can help secure vital documents or household necessities.
$100 can assist with move-in essentials.
$250 can help prevent a housing crisis before it becomes homelessness.
$500+ helps BHBC stabilize an individual or family through housing retention services and critical needs assistance.
No gift is too small.
Every dollar helps keep someone safely housed.
Our Vision
We envision a Charlotte where homelessness is rare, brief, and nonrecurring.
Where housing retention becomes just as important as housing placement.
Where faith communities, businesses, government, landlords, and neighbors work together to create lasting housing stability.
Because everyone deserves more than a place to stay.
Everyone deserves a place to call home.
