Campaign for Youth Justice

A nonprofit organization

$1,835 raised by 26 donors

The Campaign for Youth Justice (CFYJ) is a national campaign focused entirely on ending the practice of prosecuting, sentencing, and incarcerating youth under the age of 18 in the adult criminal justice system. CFYJ was initiated in 2004 by a parent whose son was transferred to the adult criminal court for prosecution.  From the start, CFYJ knew that those closest to the problem were critical in any successful reform.

Since our inception, 35 states and DC have changed more than 75 laws that make it harder to try children as adults. While the number of youth in adult jails and prisons has declined more than 60%, there are still at least 76,000 children a year prosecuted as adults. EVERY STATE IN THE NATION STILL PROSECUTES CHILDREN AS ADULTS.

By donating to CFYJ you can help youth get age appropriate services and supports that help them and ensure public safety. Donations will go to supporting the voices of impacted youth and families being part of the reform process, supporting state based advocates with policy, data, coalition building, and media support, educating new lawmakers at the federal level to ensure children of color don't remain over represented in adult court.

We cant do it without you!
