1. We Are A Hand Up Not a Hand Out

We are interested in long-term solutions. Our strategy offers a way forward for families who have fallen on hard times. Not only do we help them up and out of homelessness, but we support each family until they don’t need us anymore. 

2. We Work With Local Congregations

Our relationship with local congregations is key to the success of our program. When we get families out of crisis, provide a safe space to sleep, and offer human connection, the results are immeasurable. 

3. We Put Your Money to Work

Your money matters to us. For every dollar donated, we are able to provide five dollars of services to the families in our program. You know your money will be put to work when you give to FPGNB.

Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels is a long-term solution for families experiencing homelessness. We respond to each family with a clear plan to lift them out of homelessness and into a self-sustained future. 

First, we get them safe with food, clothing, and shelter. The program utilizes a network of local congregations that offer hospitality providing shelter, meals, and emotional support. This strategy is a cost-efficient and effective solution to address the immediate crisis. 

Then, our team of social workers works closely with the family to rebuild their lives in a sustainable way. This is a step-by-step process that we work on daily until the goal is reached. We offer educational classes on topics such as how to live within a budget and the importance of emergency savings. 

In order to successfully complete our program, a family will have achieved each of their goals including:

• Secure safe housing through Eviction Prevention, Shelter Diversion, Temporary Shelter, and Case Management Stabilization




• Establish permanent, full-time employment




• Find safe, reliable child care or after-school care




• Financial Literacy




• Create a working, realistic budget




• Obtain reliable transportation

The final phase of our program involves supporting families for at least the first year of their independence. We help them through obstacles as they come up and help keep them on track. This helps to ensure their lasting independence. 

Without our partners, we could not exist to help families triumph over homelessness and achieve independence.

Who We Are

Family Promise is a nonprofit, interfaith, nonsectarian organization for families with children in transition. The program utilizes a network of local congregations that offer hospitality providing shelter, meals, and emotional support to families without homes. Because Family Promise utilizes the space and volunteers of local congregations, it is a cost-efficient and effective solution to family homelessness.
