Friends of Huntertown Community Interpretive Park

$7,114 raised by 48 donors

Our mission is to support and promote the development of Huntertown Community Interpretive Park (HCIP) as a living museum and a public park. This beautiful 40-acre public park sits the site of the historic Huntertown community, an African American hamlet settled after the Civil War.  As park ambassadors, Friends of HCIP mobilizes to preserve the history of Huntertown, honor the legacy of Woodford County’s African American story, and expand public green space in our community.

Your support helps us “build out the dream” for a community pavilion in 2026, providing accessible space for park educational programs, picnics, reunions and more. Future plans include naturescape playgrounds, outdoor classrooms, accessible walking trails, community gardens and historic spaces to share the Huntertown story. We are indebted to our growing list of community partners and dedicated volunteers who have logged over 7000 hours on site since our beginning in 2020.

We believe that History is OUR story. Be part of the Huntertown story with your gift today! Every gift makes a difference.
