Northside Common Market

Northside Common Market (NCM) was established in 2019 with a mission to foster economic development and support the marginalized communities of Lexington, KY. Our nonprofit organization is dedicated to promoting equity, inclusion, and access to essential resources. We have a Gold Seal on Candid, reflecting our commitment to transparency and excellence in our operations.

We have successfully curated vibrant public markets in outdoor locations locally known as Julietta Market, providing a platform for local vendors to showcase and sell their products. These markets have become crucial incubators for small businesses, enabling entrepreneurs to transition from pop-up stalls to permanent brick-and-mortar establishments. 

NCM owns property that we have dedicated to community gardening and education in partnership with Seedleaf. Locally known as The North Pole Garden, this space is used to provide a communal area where residents can grow their own produce, learn about sustainable agriculture, and engage in outdoor activities. Additionally, Seedleaf holds workshops, training sessions on gardening, nutrition, and environmental stewardship, empowering community members with the skills and knowledge to lead healthier lives.

Lastly, a cornerstone of our initiative is The Market Kitchen, a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen designed to support aspiring food entrepreneurs. This facility provides them with the necessary tools and resources to cultivate their passions and realize their dreams within the food ecosystem. TMK was created to offer a space for up-and-coming food businesses in need of a commercial kitchen. However, it has become so much more; a culinary marketplace, a resource hub and a food bank.
