Ravenna Trap

A nonprofit organization

The Ravenna Trap Team is an organization that is run completely by volunteers. Our mission is to boost student self-esteem while instilling the values of firearm safety and the enjoyment of a true lifelong sport. Our team is not a school funded activity. Expenses incurred that are not covered by fundraising efforts are self-paid by the student. We serve approximately 50 students in grades 6-12. We serve students from Amherst, Pleasanton, and Shelton in addition to the Ravenna students.

Our program was initially started in 2005 by a special education teacher that saw the need to boost students self-esteem. He wanted to instill in them that even if they were not an athlete they could still participate and do well in sporting events. Our club started with approximately 5 Ravenna students and has grown into the surrounding communities and impacted on average 40 students a year over the past few years. The club is completely volunteer and self-sustaining. We fundraise to assist the students by covering shooting fees, supplying practice targets and firearm safety. We are proud to say students have graduated high school because they had to be a full-time student in order to participate in the trapshooting club.
