Ruth Meiers Hospitality House Inc

Ruth Meiers began in 1987, providing shelter services to seven homeless men in Bismarck. Now, Ruth Meiers provides over 200 shelter beds and 110 affordable housing units, alongside multiple essential services to meet the growing across the region. What started out as a small shelter almost 30 years ago has now grown into multiple facilities, serving clients through the implementation of a transitional pathway that includes shelter and essential services with the goal of community reintegration.

Our Mission is to provide pathways to empower individuals in achieving self-sufficiency.

Ruth Meiers is more than just a homeless shelter. We provide numerous essential services to the homeless at multiple facilities in the Bismarck-Mandan area. The programs and services offered at Ruth Meiers create a transitional pathway from homelessness to community reintegration, providing services across the continuum to help our clients overcome barriers and access the resources available to them.

Our Impact on the Community In 2015, Ruth Meiers served the homeless and those at risk of homelessness by providing:

• Shelter to 100 individuals each night
• 35,000 nights of shelter provided to men, women and children
• 55,000 meals to residents/tenants
• 15 community food baskets each week
• 20,000 lbs. of food each year through our food pantry
• Free health care to 25 individuals every month
• free baby items (diapers, wipes, blankets, etc.) to 642 mothers 
• affordable child care to 20 children each day
