Habitat for Humanity, Show-Me Central

Show-Me Central Habitat for Humanity partners with individuals and families in our community—and around the world—to help build safe, affordable places to call home. Habitat homeowners work alongside volunteers to help build their own homes and purchase them through an affordable, interest-free mortgage that covers only the cost of construction.

With the support of donors, volunteers, and community partners, families are able to achieve the strength, stability, and independence needed to build a better future. Show-Me Central Habitat for Humanity is committed to expanding access to decent, affordable housing for more families than ever before.

Today, we are proud to be breaking ground on the second phase of our Boone Prairie subdivision. Situated on 54 acres, Boone Prairie will ultimately feature 143 affordable homes, creating lasting opportunities for homeownership and stronger neighborhoods in our community.

In early 2020, the 50-acre plot of land that is now Habitat's Boone Prairie Subdivision, started construction on its very first home. Since then, thousands of volunteers, hundreds of donors, and 28 homeowners have made their way through the process of building this incredible community. There will be 143 Habitat Homeowners living in Boone Prairie upon its completion. Families like Rebecca's! Take a tour of her home with Rebecca leading the way! Habitat for Humanity provides an interest-free mortgage for the amount it costs to build their home with volunteer labor. Without interest or labor costs, these homes are actually affordable to own. Future homeowners help build their house by completing 250 hours of sweat equity and education to set them up for successful homeownership. They put in their blood, sweat and tears, and pay a mortgage just like everyone else- it is just affordable!
