The Big Give 2025: Turning Heartbreak Into Hope

This year has been one of the most challenging in our history. The floods in July pushed us beyond anything we’ve faced before—yet through it all, Freeman-Fritts Animal Shelter has remained a safe haven for the lost, the injured, and the forgotten. From Tippy the terrified cat trapped in her flooded home, to Dream the Malinois puppy who had a severe laceration from being tied up through the rising water, to Easy Bake the miracle cat who survived weeks trapped in an oven—we’ve been there, rescuing, sheltering, and healing nonstop.

But even as flood recovery continues, our work doesn’t stop. Every single day, animals come through our doors who need extraordinary care. That’s why our Happy Tails Fund exists—and why The Big Give is more important than ever.

✨ Liam, a fragile bottle baby born with a deadly diaphragmatic hernia, needed specialized surgery just to survive.

✨ Claire, a poodle mix, arrived in heartbreaking condition and required weeks of intensive treatment before she was ready for adoption.

✨ River, a tiny kitten pulled from the riverbanks, fought to live because of donors like you.

These are just a few of the hundreds of animals whose lives depend on this fund.

The Happy Tails Fund makes it possible for us to:

• Provide life-saving surgeries and specialized medical care.

• Run our Barn Cat Program, giving feral cats a second chance as working cats.

• Support our Kitten Warriors, covering medical care and supplies for orphaned kittens until adoption.

• Step in with Emergency Rescue & Relief when disaster strikes—whether it’s a flood, fire, or family crisis.

Who We Are

Freeman-Fritts is a no-kill shelter promoting adoptions of homeless animals. It also provides services of spay/neuter programs, a low-cost clinic, vaccinations and medications while educating the public in responsibilities of pet care and ownership.
