This has been a difficult year for immigrants seeking refuge from persecution in their home country.

CRCKY offers wraparound care to immigrants in Kentucky as they work their way through the complex, non-intuitive, and bureaucratic US immigration system.  Support services include, but are not limited to, legal assistance to stabilize immigration status, food, clothing, referrals to affordable medical and mental health treatment, access to furniture and household goods, bus passes, and bus training referrals.

CRCKY's immigration lawyer and three DOJ Accredited Representatives help clients with:

  • Asylum applications,

  • Exploring legal options when facing imminent end to their TPS and/or Humanitarian Parole,

  • Work Permits,

  • DACA Renewals,

  • Adjustment of Status,

  • FOIA requests,

  • Change of Venue requests,

  • Green cards,Naturalization

CRCKY also just started to represent clients detained by ICE.  Our sliding scale fee means that clients who do not have an income, or whose income is below 100% of the Federal poverty line, can get legal help for free.

CRCKY's unique makeup ensures that clients are supported in a holistic way.  We don't just offer clients legal support, we make sure they have enough to eat, their children are enrolled in school, they have coats, boots, and warm blankets during winter months, and they know how to get around in Lexington.  Many of our clients do not know that going to the hospital can cost them thousands of dollars: we make sure they know about and enroll in affordable clinics for medical and dental care.

Finally, CRCKY also conducts educational activities, sharing factual information with clients and the general public about local resources and US immigration. Our multilingual website, crc4me.org, offers clients a free, frequently updated resource center.  Finally, immigration related workshops and presentations on topics such as Know Your Rights and Harboring are available to community members upon request.

Who We Are

CRCKY has a broad mission, to help immigrants in Kentucky negatively impacted by immigration. This includes emergency relief for families impacted by 1) immigration enforcement, 2) catastrophic events such as the pandemic that disproportionately impact immigrants, and 3) serious health issues. CRCKY also has an educational component, providing factual information to the general public about worldwide migration and US immigration.

CRCKY's Covid-19 Relief program offers emergency financial assistance to households where at least one family member has, or recently had, Covid-19. Assistance includes paying for rent and utilities during quarantine and bringing food and baby supplies to immigrants who need them. Households must be ineligible for government assistance to qualify for CRCKY financial assistance. If a client does not qualify for financial assistance from CRCKY, they are referred to agencies that will and supported throughout the referral process.

For clients with immigration-related legal needs, CRCKY refers them to reputable, low-cost or free services. Client families are also helped to establish contact with detained loved ones through video visitations.
