The Big Give is now open!—Help us unlock a $6,000 match!
Every gift to the Cary Clack Scholarship Fund during The Big Give helps bring writing to life—for 160 San Antonians.

Could you help us reach our $20,000 goal?

This year, all donations from The Big Give are in support of the Cary Clack Scholarship Fund. Gemini Ink established this fund for emerging writers in honor of esteemed journalist Cary Clack, a beloved member of the Gemini Ink board. Born and raised in San Antonio, Cary Clack became the first Black journalist on the metro desk at the San Antonio Express-News, where he has covered local and national news and social issues for three decades. He is the author of Clowns and Rats Scare Me and More Finish Lines to Cross and was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters in 2017.

All donations support the Cary Clack Scholarship Fund—honoring San Antonio journalist Cary Clack by granting free writing classes to new storytellers. Your gift is matched dollar-for-dollar by generous donors, doubling its power.

Here’s what our community says about the impact of your gift.

Who We Are

Gemini Ink believes that creative writing plays a vital role in people’s lives. We recognize that writing is an ongoing process, and that anything we do to reinvigorate and support that process helps us grow as artists and individuals. This, in turn, nurtures happier, healthier, more connected communities.

Gemini Ink teaches the craft of writing in a way that is approachable, supportive and inspiring. Our mission is to help people create and share the human story. is realized through our core programs, including:

Creative Writing Classes (CWC). Whether the last thing you wrote was a poem in high school or a short story in a notable journal, we provide a supportive writing community and the opportunity to develop your skills. Our workshops are intimate, encourage active participation, and are based on a spirit of inclusiveness and community-building.

Writers in Communities (WIC) sends professional writers into community settings to provide extended workshops that build a love of reading and writing and nurture the art and craft of writing. WIC writing programs express the unique culture and context of San Antonio communities.
