Greater Erie Area Habitat for Humanity

History:

* Since 1991, we built 80 new houses providing housing for 122 adults and 205 children. 

* We completed 12 critical home repairs.

* Since 1990, we tithed $151,598 to Habitat International and supported 55 international houses to be built. 

 * Construction of houses #82 & 83 started in May. 

Building a handicap accessible house for Na’rael. DaNat’sha was born and raised in Erie and works full‑time as a personal care home health aide. She is the proud mother of five lively children—three girls and two boys. Her youngest son, Na’rael, is four years old, loves playing with cars, and lives with cerebral palsy. He uses a wheelchair, and DaNat’sha has done everything she can to adapt their rental home, but it simply cannot meet his growing needs.

DaNat’sha dreams of providing a home where all of her children can grow, thrive, and feel safe, especially Na’rael. Her Habitat home will be thoughtfully designed with full accessibility in mind. Na’rael will have a first‑floor bedroom and bathroom tailored to his needs, giving him safe movement and space for his equipment and wheelchair.

She looks forward to the simple things that make a house a home: sitting down together for family meals, watching her children play safely in their own backyard, and creating a place where memories can take root. After many years of renting, DaNat’sha is excited to finally build equity for her family’s future and to join her new neighborhood.
