Heritage Community Initiatives

For 43 years, Heritage Community Initiatives has been privileged to serve thousands of individuals living in more than 80 communities throughout Allegheny County.

Heritage Community Initiatives is the only human services nonprofit in Pennsylvania dedicated to directly addressing three key constructs of socioeconomic mobility - transportation, education and nutrition. A recent study conducted showed that the economic and societal impact of Heritage Community Initiatives results in over $33 million dollars infused into our regional economy each year.

Heritage Community Transportation, a fixed-route transportation service, allows people to get to work, healthcare, retail, PRT stops, and more for only 25 cents a ride. HCT has provided more than 1.6 million rides in its 25 years in operation.

Heritage Transportation Solutions provides customized transportation at affordable rates for businesses and organizations to move clients, employees, or customers.

Heritage Education Programs serves nearly 300 largely at-risk children annually through its highly accredited, academically based education programs at Heritage 4 Kids Early Learning Center and HOST (Heritage Out of School Time). These nationally renowned programs ensure education is within reach for all area families.

Heritage Nutrition Services prepares and delivers fresh, largely from-scratch meals for children and adults – both at our own education programs and in collaboration with nearly 40 contracted sites. Last year, we provided more than 244,000 meals.
