James Baker Hall Foundation, Inc.

The James Baker Hall Foundation is dedicated to Kentucky writers and photographers. James Baker Hall was known for his work as a writer, was a Poet Laureate of Kentucky and the author of many essential works of Southern literature. He was a member of the Fab Five of Kentucky writers which included Wendell Berry, Ed McClanahan, Bobbi Ann Mason and Gurney Norman. But perhaps one of the things he was best known for and loved for was his mentorship of young Kentucky writers through his position as director of creative writing at the University of Kentucky for over 30 years.

James Baker Hall's family has established a foundation to continue Jim's passion of keeping the voice of Kentucky alive through direct support of Kentucky writers and photographers. The foundation's mission is to celebrate the legacy of our great artistic heritage by providing direct support to Kentucky's literary and visual creatives.
