Operation Be You, Inc.

Operation Be You, Inc. was founded by five sisters who grew
up in a marginalized community in Lexington, Kentucky, where few youth
development resources existed for Black and Brown girls beyond the Girl Scouts.

Without access to affirming mentorship or skill-building opportunities, they struggled with self-esteem, self-worth and challenges that contributed to a cycle of unhealthy relationships and early motherhood. Their lived experiences now fuel a powerful mission: to ensure that today’s girls have the support, guidance, and opportunities they once lacked.

Operation Be You, Inc. offers year-round programming designed to empower girls through education, mentorship, and community engagement. Our flagship initiative, 5P Empowerment, centers on
five foundational pillars: overcoming fear, effective communication,
mindfulness, motivation, and life skills—anchored in our guiding acronym,
S.M.A.R.T. This transformative program equips girls with the tools to navigate life with confidence and clarity.

Another program conducted in the community centers and after-school programs is the "Journey to Find Me" program designed to educate teen girls on self-awareness, self-esteem and self-preservation.

Other activities consist of our annual Jerown's Joy Athletic Shoe program that supports any child in need of new athletic shoes, community service and social justice initiatives to name a few.

Beyond education, we create joyful, community-based
spaces where girls can apply what they’ve learned in real-world settings.
