Buckle up, because our story really is a wild one.
Petri’s Place Wildlife Rehab began in the unlikeliest way — with a shoebox full of eight baby opossums handed off in the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant during the early days of the pandemic.
That night, there were no manuals, no mentors on speed dial, and no “how-to” guide for keeping these fragile babies alive. There was only determination, a kitchen full of makeshift supplies, and the promise that these little ones would survive.
From that chaotic moment, Petri’s Place Wildlife Rehab was born.
Today, we are a licensed nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing the forgotten wildlife that call our neighborhoods home — opossums, raccoons, skunks, bats, squirrels, and more.
These animals aren’t pests. They’re the underdogs of the animal world — nature’s cleanup crew, pollinators, rodent control, and vital parts of our ecosystem.
But here’s the truth: without help, most of them don’t stand a chance.
Injured, orphaned, or displaced animals flood our doors each year, and every single one depends on community support to survive.
Petri’s Place runs entirely on donations, volunteers, and sheer grit. No government funding. No safety net. Just us, a big heart, and a lot of hungry little mouths to feed.
When you support Petri’s Place, you’re not just helping wildlife — you’re protecting the balance of nature in your own backyard.
You’re making sure kids grow up in a world where wild things still exist, where compassion wins, and where even the scrappy underdogs get a second chance.
It all started with one shoebox in a parking lot.
With your help, it can continue — for every wild life that needs saving. Together, we are friends of the wild.
