Award-winning PortSide NewYork connects New Yorkers to the benefits of our waterfront, advocating for an increase in maritime uses, with a special focus on the underserved (maritime with equity and inclusion)!

Our work includes economic, community, and workforce development; education, culture and resiliency flood prep, African American Maritime Heritage, RedHookWaterStories virtual museum and community guide, TankerTime daily access to the deck of the tanker MARY A. WHALEN, and visiting vessels such as CLEARWATER and MAIDEN.

We based on the historic ship, MARY A. WHALEN, the last of her kind in the USA and on the National Register of Historic Places. The ship is a museum, a floating education and cultural center, and the site of many community events. Our long-standing goal is to create a maritime campus that serves the public and the working waterfront - and brings them together for the benefit of both - a place larger than our ship MARY A. WHALEN.
