The Black Institute: Empowering Communities and
Championing Justice – Join Us This Giving Tuesday!

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to support The Black
Institute (TBI) as we continue our mission to empower communities of color and
fight for social, economic, and environmental justice. Since our founding in
2010, TBI has been a driving force for change, dedicated to addressing the
challenges that have historically impacted Black communities and people of
color in the United States and across the Diaspora.

Through a unique blend of research, advocacy, and action, we
address issues at the root of injustice in areas such as immigration reform,
public education, environmental justice, and economic empowerment. Our goal is
not only to speak out about these issues but to mobilize communities, advocate
for policy change, and foster a network of engaged citizens who are ready to
lead and inspire change.

Why We Need Your Support

In 2023 alone, TBI expanded several key programs:

  • Social
    Equity and Racial Justice Project:
    We launched impactful programs,
including the Marijuana Education Development Series (M.E.D.S.), which
provides comprehensive knowledge on cannabis education and advocacy.
Through workshops, curriculum development, and our annual Canna Ball, we
are building a stronger and more inclusive cannabis industry for all.

  • Legacy
    Circle Membership:
Our Legacy Circle has been critical in supporting
ongoing work. This initiative is aimed at building a network of committed
monthly donors who believe in TBI’s mission and impact, ensuring we have a
steady foundation to keep our programs running.

Your Impact

By contributing to The Black Institute this Giving Tuesday,
you’ll be helping us:

  1. Expand
    Our Educational Programs
    – Help us provide more workshops, resources,
and support for communities of color on topics like environmental health,
    economic equity, and cannabis reform.

  2. Drive
    Policy Change
    – Support our ongoing research and advocacy efforts to
push for meaningful policy reforms that address systemic inequalities in
public education, economic access, and immigration.

  3. Strengthen
    Community Networks
    – Your donation will enable us to build a larger,
more connected network of activists, leaders, and community members who
can advocate for lasting change together.

Every dollar donated will make a direct impact on our
programs and initiatives, helping us reach more communities and deepen our
impact. This Giving Tuesday, join us in making a difference and championing the
values that TBI stands for.

Who We Are

The mission of The Black Institute is to shape intellectual discourse and dialogue to impact public policy uniquely from a Black perspective (a perspective which includes all people of color in the United States and throughout the Diaspora). The Black Institute (TBI) is an “Action Tank” – A think tank that takes action. By implementing a three-part strategy: Knowledge (research, data gathering, polling and academic partnerships); Leadership (civic education, training and development); and Community (ground organizing and issue based campaigns), TBI changes the direction of public debate, trains and educates new leadership and develops initiatives to build wealth, build power and deliver justice to Black people and people of color. Our four areas of focus are Economic Fairness, Education, Environmental Justice, and Immigration.
