What We Do...

Since 2009, The Book Works has been helping our community's youth and young adults (approximately 12 to 21 years) to reach their education goals.

We believe every young person deserves a path to success. We work alongside youth and young adults who have experienced educational disruptions, providing advocacy, programs, and opportunities that help them reconnect to learning, achieve their goals, and create brighter futures for themselves and their communities. 

The Book Works Education Advocates assist young people who are experiencing education disruptions for a variety of reasons. Some young people are struggling to attend school due to early or consistent exposure to violence or serious trauma, involvement in the child welfare or justice systems, or recent immigration to the community. Other young people, as many as one in four, grew up in families experiencing economic hardship or homelessness and must prioritize working or caring for younger siblings over their own education.

Programs at The Book Works assist learners to set education goals, access needed community services, navigate educational systems, develop skills needed for success in school and life, and make a difference in their community.

Despite the challenges faced by the young people we serve, we focus on their strengths and support their goals to succeed.
