United Social Services Inc. (USS) empowers at-risk and homeless young adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, foster care adults, people with disabilities, seniors, and families to build stable and successful futures.

Our vision is to create a world where every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to the support and resources they need to achieve their fullest potential and lead a fulfilling life.

A Journey Fueled by Vision and Community

Founded in 2018, USS was born from a simple belief: that every person deserves a hand up. For years, our mission was personally fueled by the unwavering vision and dedication of our founder, Lee C. Wallace. With some support from our caring community, Lee built a foundation that has carried USS to this moment. We are proud to share that, through the unwavering support of our founder and community, we have helped over 5,000 people from 2018 to 2025.

In August 2024, we embarked on a bold new chapter. We realized that to truly reach those in need, we had to go to them. We shed our walls and expanded our outreach to build a mobile, remote organization, a vessel of hope on wheels that brings a full circle of support directly to our unhoused and low-income neighbors.

The need for this work is immense. In Texas, a staggering 28% of LGBTQ+ youth have experienced homelessness or housing instability. Veterans and seniors are also disproportionately affected, often with limited access to resources. Our mobile model is built to directly serve these vulnerable populations. We are committed to this approach while simultaneously working toward our ambitious goal of having doors and walls again, a permanent space where every individual can find a safe, secure & stable supportive home base.

• Your gift helps us bring a network of support to the streets of San Antonio. Our Community Connect and Nourish Together team will be on-site, providing a thousand hot meals and life-changing resources. We will meet hunger with nourishment and loneliness with connection.




• Your donation also helps us get a new key. As a mobile organization, four reliable wheels is more than a way to get around; it is a lifeline. We are raising funds to purchase a new vehicle, which will become our "Mobile Sanctuary," a vessel for all our programs. Your contribution will help us buy this new vessel of hope, ensuring we can reach every corner of our community, every single day.

Meet Leo: Here is his testament to the power of our integrated approach. It began at a Community Connect outreach event, where our team offered immediate support and vital resources. From there, our Navigator Support Services program provided personalized case management to address his specific needs and create a roadmap for his success.

To overcome the common barriers he faced, our Mobility for Success program provided transportation for job searches and interviews, a crucial step that led to his employment. This support, combined with the stability provided by our Pathways to Home initiative, secured 12 months of housing for him. Leo's journey highlights how providing comprehensive, connected services can lead to life-changing outcomes.

Our journey started in 2018 with one person's vision, but it has grown into a powerful movement thanks to the support of many. Now, with our new mobile efforts, we can bring hope directly to those who need it most. This work is only possible because of you.
