Home is our first place. Work is our second. The third is the one in between - the shared place where you're just a neighbor, where a community actually happens. For Northville, that's our downtown.

It's where my kids are growing up - where we walk on a summer night, grab dinner, and run into half the people we know. So when decisions about that shared place got pulled away from the community, it hit close to home.

What I love is how people responded. Instead of just complaining, neighbors organized. That's Community Over Cars - a volunteer-run local nonprofit, 200+ neighbors keeping decisions about our downtown in the hands of the people who live here, and working toward a permanent legislative solution so it stays that way. I'm on the board, and I run their social media.

This one's personal for me. If you believe our shared places should belong to the people who live in them, thank you for being part of it. 🧡
