Macee and Her Seven Babies Are Lucky to Be Alive

Macee is only 2 years old, but this sweet Lab mix has already endured more than any dog should. She and another dog were found wandering the streets after coming from a home involved in an animal neglect and abandonment seizure. While everything familiar to her disappeared, Macee was also about to become a mother. One of our partner shelters in southern Virginia was finally granted custody of her just as she began delivering seven tiny puppies. Her babies are only 3 weeks old, completely helpless and dependent on the mama who has somehow kept them safe despite everything she has been through. This weekend, Macee and all seven of her babies arrived at a Homeward Trails foster home, but saving an entire family of eight comes with enormous costs. Macee never deserved to be neglected, abandoned, or left wandering the streets, and her babies deserve to grow up knowing nothing but safety and love.
