In February of 1997, my Mother, Beth Aten, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  Hers was caught early, and she has been living with a clean bill of health since completing treatment.  Not all battles with Cancer end like this.  It would take more space than is alloted on this page for me to list the ways in which my life and the lives of people I know have been affected by this disease.  It is for this reason that I have decided to call on my family, friends, and even those of you who are reading this and may not know me that well, to help me in fighting this terrible disease.

On April 6th, I will be running in the Big D Texas Marathon in Dallas, to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  My goal is not only to raise money, but to raise awareness.  To raise awareness, I will be running in a custom jersey that will be printed with the initials of those who are fighting, have fought, or have been lost to this disease.  If you donate and would like someone's initials included on the jersey, please e-mail me at tomruns4@gmail.com (up to a week prior to the event) and I will include the initials you request on the jersey.  I will also be sure to send back out a photo of me finishing the race (in hopefully under 3:00:00) wearing the jersey.

I appreciate all of your time and support, and look forward to running this marathon with a purpose
