Why am I being asked to give money to support a public school?

You may be thinking, Ensign is a public school – why should I have to give any money?  Utah is last in the country for per pupil spending – for more information go to: https://www.governing.com/gov-data/education-data/state-education-spending-per-pupil-data.html. Giving during this year will be more important than ever as the PTA has taken on two very important commitments.  First, due to the District cutting all music education for students in grades K-2, we have hired a teacher to provide music education for these students.  Second, the legislature typically allots $500 per teacher for all classroom supplies.  Across a 185 day school year that gives teachers just $2.70 per day or for a classroom of 26 students, about 10 cents per student per day.  With that 10 cents, teachers must purchase every supply their students will need – pencils, paper, markers, books, Kleenex, disinfecting wipes, and yes, they pay for every copy they make for your students. They also must pay for every field trip with buses costing $105 minimum. We know our teachers need more and we will be providing each teacher with an additional $600 to make sure that they can have the items they need to ensure the best education for our students.  Your donations will be required in order to keep this support going for our amazing teachers who give so much to our community.

We are grateful for the support parents have provided and are looking forward to another outstanding year. If you have an idea about things PTA should do, join us for a PTA meeting, email any of the PTA leadership group, or leave a comment on our Facebook page, www.ensignpta.org. Together we make Ensign the best experience for our students!

What are the fundraising events?

The annual budget for the PTA is posted in the front hall on the PTA / SCC bulletin board.

Fall Bash is NOT a fundraiser.  The money raised by ticket sales goes to cover the fees of having the bounce houses, face painters and, if necessary, the minimum charge of the food truck.

PTA memberships are NOT a fundraiser.  The majority of the $6 membership fee goes to the National PTA organization.

The Spring Stomp is NOT a fundraiser.  The money charged for drinks goes to cover the cost of having Thirst present along with decorations and treats.

The Fall Fundraiser and Gallery Stroll are fundraisers along with Box Tops, Amazon Smiles and the Smith’s rewards program. During the 2019- 2020 school year, we will ask you to contribute during the Fall Fundraiser and during Gallery Stroll.  We will ask you to save your Box Tops, link your Amazon Account and connect your Smith’s rewards program. The funds from these endeavors will make sure we can continue to provide all that the Ensign Community has come to expect as part of an Ensign Education. Through our efforts, we plan to raise approximately $40K. In addition to asking you to support Ensign financially, we will ask you to volunteer throughout the year to ensure that our students have the best opportunities possible.

How can I give?

Giving is easy!  You can support Ensign through cash, check (made out to "Ensign PTA"), credit card or online contribution at this website.  If making a monthly payment makes the most sense for you, simply fill out our monthly credit card authorization form.  If you have questions, please contact amy@dramyfehlberg.com or call  435-901-0759.
