Friends of Veritas Preparatory Charter School Inc

At Veritas Prep, our mission is rooted in meeting the needs of our community. We believe that a fifty-fifty graduation rate is not good enough for Springfield’s children, and we are working to ensure that our scholars are able to compete, achieve, and succeed in high school, college, and beyond. 

Our school provides a rigorous college preparatory curriculum and character education within a structured learning environment. We utilize an extended school day, school year, and data-driven instruction to drive dramatic gains in scholar achievement. 

Currently, we serve more than 300 scholars in grades 5 to 8.  Our current scholar population is comprised of 70% low income/high needs, 67% Hispanic, 23% African-American/Black, 16% Special Education, and 9% English Language Learners. 

Most of our scholars come to us several grade levels behind academically. According to results from the 2012 MCAS, just 22% of the scholars as 4th graders scored proficient on the Math test and 39% scored proficient on the Reading test. Our dedicated staff has been working tirelessly to make gains in those proficiency levels. After three years at our school, Veritas Prep scholars have surpassed their district peers and are outperforming statewide averages with 83% of Veritas Prep scholars scoring proficient or advanced in English Language Arts (ELA) and 75% scoring proficient or advanced in Math. 

There is a $1,033 difference between the cost to educate a Veritas Prep scholar for one year and the amount of per pupil tuition received from state and federal funding.  We need help from private donors to keep our mission alive!  Please consider supporting these Springfield scholars.
