'It can get a lot worse': Food insecurity in Houston growing problem as COVID-19 cases climb.
The need: Across the country, the number of people affected by food insecurity continues to rise dramatically as a result of COVID-19. Feeding America estimates that the number of food insecure people in the United States has risen from 37 million in February 2020 (pre-COVID) to over 50 million at the end of 2020. [Learn more]
The response: We're hosting a food drive during the month of January to provide more shelf stable food to the Houston Food Bank.
There's something you should know: Your participation is completely voluntary! Seriously. 100% voluntary. Nothing will go in your employee file ... now or ever ... that has to do with this food drive. Cool? Okay, let's keep going.
Here's how it works: Select your TEAM from the leaderboard list above or the list below. From your TEAM page, there are two actions you can take:
- DONATE to your team. When donating, we encourage you to donate anonymously (hide name from public display). You'll still receive a donation receipt for tax purposes.
- SHARE via social media or email to invite others to donate and help your team.
Who benefits? We’re working together to provide much needed food for the Houston Food Bank. Donations will be converted from money to shelf stable food items and delivered to the Houston Food Bank where they will benefit thousands of households at this critical time.
