Supporting nonprofits and building better communities - that's the goal of the Van Metre Cornhole Challenge. The heart of the event has always been ensuring that worthy organizations have the resources they need to make a significant difference for the neighbors in the communities where we live and work.

We Play With Purpose. This year, we plan to raise $75,000. Be a part of building a better community.

Over the years, the event has raised more than $500,000 for local organizations that: place anti-bullying educational and support groups in local high schools, build homes for those without them, and create sorely needed opportunities for early childhood education. Through our partnerships with local non-profits, we have made dreams come true for children facing life-threatening illness and provided college readiness programming for underserved populations.

This year, your support will make possible:

  • Homes for those without them.  HomeAid Northern Virginia connects vetted local non-profits serving those affected by homelessness with homebuilding experts who generously donate their time, resources, and expertise to create dignified, safe, and stable spaces that foster healing and growth. The organization also hosts other events and activities that supplement the work of its non-profit partners.
  • STEM Programming and a Love of Learning for Northern Virginia’s Children.  The Children’s Science Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and interactive museum where children, families and school groups can explore science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts through fun, engaging hands-on exhibits, activities and programs. It serves more than 70,000 visitors a year at the Children’s Science Center Lab at Fair Oaks Mall and through community programs delivered to schools, libraries and STEM festivals across Northern Virginia. Its mission is to inspire a love of learning STEM by providing unique opportunities to explore and create. Its vision is to create a world-class interactive science center that ignites the curiosity in all of us.
  • Non-medical supportive care to children with cancer (and their families).  Stillbrave is committed to helping the families of children battling cancer in any way they can. So while they are fighting the toughest war of their lives, Stillbrave will fight their lesser battles, so they don’t have to. Stillbrave is there not only to support children with cancer, but to help ease the burden of the family and the caregivers who are fighting battles of their own.

Can't make it to the tournament? This year, we are launching a Play with Purpose pop-up shop where all proceeds benefit the charities.
