The English Skills Learning Center (ESLC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers free, high-quality English, citizenship preparation, and workforce training classes for adult immigrants and refugees -- from those learning to read and write in any language for the first time to those with advanced degrees looking to reconnect with their professions in a new country.
Since 1988, ESLC's services have allowed for students to confidently navigate life in the United States. Its programs equip New Americans with the language and confidence to engage in civic life, pursue education and employment, and advocate for their families.
The ESLC aims to integrate and strengthen communities by breaking language and cultural barriers. The ESLC also works with and encourages community members to learn alongside students through volunteering, workshops, and community events.
This fundraiser will help support ESLC's Community English Program, which provides no-cost English language instruction to adult immigrants and refugees across Salt Lake County. Courses are purposely held in accessible community spaces across the County.
Some of the ESLC's programs are currently at risk due to changes in federal funding. Your donations will help keep these programs going, support trusted community educators, and ensures every adult who wants to learn has the chance to do so.
