AZ Race 2 Rescue Team

The AZ Race 2 Rescue Team is a group of passionate people that will race in a speed triathalon or 5k run to help raise funds to rescue children from the sex trade through the work of Destiny Rescue.  Destiny Rescue is an organization that works undercover to rescue children that have been trafficked into the sex industry.  It is estimated to cost about $1,500 to rescue one child from a brothel or bar, so each team member will have an individual goal of just that, $1,500.  As a team, our goal is to raise $12,000 which would be equivalent to rescuing 8 children! with your help and support, you can help save a childs life.

Our team is running the Mesa Sprint Triathlon/5k in Arizona this October to help raise awareness and funds to support Destiny Rescue, a non-profit organization committed to fighting back and ending child sex trafficking. $1,500 is the cost to rescue a child and start them on the path to restoration. • GIVE FINANCIALLY - All of the proceeds will go directly to fund the work that Destiny Rescue is doing to help rescue and restore kids. Here’s a few examples of how your donation would be used: $1,500 funds the operational costs for a typical rescue $3,000 provides the cost of restoration for a rescued child, including medical treatment, living expenses, counselling, education, and vocational training. $1,500 sees a child reintegrated back into society, and Destiny Rescue continues to walk with them and support them for an additional 2 years.

• PRAY FOR THESE KIDS AND THESE COUNTRIES - Every time we run, we pray for these kids. Pray for those still trapped in slavery to find and hold onto hope, and pray for their physical safety. Pray for rescue. Pray for the kids who have been rescued to find healing and restoration. • LIVE SIMPLY - The human trafficking industry is fueled by greed. The more people choose to live a simple and economically sustainable lifestyle, the less fuel there is to feed this evil industry. MORE ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND DESTINY RESCUE

 THE PROBLEM IS BIG

Human trafficking is one of the greatest social injustices of our time and the fastest growing illegal enterprise in our world today. Though estimates vary due to the hidden nature of this atrocity, leading experts state there are an estimated 27 million men, women and children enslaved in our world today. That’s more than at any other time in human history. And it’s a huge money maker too bringing in proceeds up to a 150 billion dollars a year. 99 billion of it is specific to sexual exploitation. Sadly, 1.2 million children are trafficked each year – the majority of them ending up in the sex trade. In order to eradicate this evil from our planet, it will take ordinary people to stand up against this injustice and take action. That’s why Destiny Rescue was born.

MAKING A GLOBAL DIFFERENCE

Established in 2001, Destiny Rescue is an international, Christian based non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and restoring children enslaved in the sex industry. Operating in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, India, and the Philippines, they literally send out undercover agents to actively search for and identify children trapped in brothels, bars and red light district and then offer them a way out. They also work closely with anti-trafficking police to bring traffickers and brothel managers to justice. In 2014 alone we rescued over 340 children from the sex-trade or sexually exploitive situations and since 2011 we’ve rescued over 1100! FROM RESCUE TO RESTORATION

Once kids are rescued, they are brought to one of Destiny Rescue’s many rescue homes, where they have a safe place to live and be restored. They receive medical treatment, professional counseling, food, clothing, education, the opportunity to learn a skill or trade and much more. And finally, with much tender loving care, these kids begin to smile and laugh again…they become kids once more!

REINTEGRATION – PROVIDING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

As these children become of age to start working, they will pick a skill of their choice in a job skills training program and go through the course. Case managers will help them find a job in the community, empowering them to fulfill their dreams…reintegration has begun! Destiny Rescue continues to walk alongside them for two additional years after they are reintegrated back into society, offering them counseling or assistance as needed so that they will bloom into the full destiny and purpose they were created for.
