Beyond Rescue 2023

Welcome to this year's Beyond Rescue! 

All donations made during this 30 hour event, from 10 am August 17 to 4 pm August 18,  go towards affordable and accessible pet care for pets and their families in the Metro East St. Louis region.

Imagine suddenly taking care of a pet without any supplies or food. You do not have reliable transportation or a steady job. Gateway Pet Guardians intentionally serves pet loving families in a resource desert - an area where access to nutritious food, employment, health care, and transportation is limited or unavailable.

Gateway Pet Guardians' lifesaving mission is to provide low-cost veterinary care, an affordable pet supply store, a pet food pantry, outreach services and transportation, intakes, and low-barrier adoptions. More about Beyond Rescue

Beyond Rescue was born out of the pandemic, when many nonprofits had to cancel in-person events and rethink the way they fundraise. It quickly became our largest fundraiser of the year, and a promising platform to reach a larger audience of potential supporters. For our third year, the Beyond Rescue campaign goal is $70,000 raised in only 30 hours! That's right! The campaign includes peer-to-peer fundraising, personal outreach, social media fundraising, a 'telethon' component, and email appeals. There will also be a post-campaign 'yappy' hour as a thank you to those who make this year's Beyond Rescue a success!

Gateway Pet Guardians (GPG) is a 501(c)3 animal welfare organization focused on creating a community of healthy pets and empowered pet owners in East Side Pet District - East St. Louis, Cahokia Heights, Washington Park and Fairmont City in southern Illinois. GPG is the only affordable Pet Resource Center with a pet supply store, affordable veterinary clinic, pet food pantry, and low-barrier adoption services in the area. Founded in 2004, GPG works to provide judgment-free and equitable access to pet resources, as well as remove barriers to pet ownership through progressive programming and collaborative partnerships.
