In 2013, 24 Bike Down riders spent three days building community, exploring the California coast, whale watching, eating delicious meals, visiting organic farms, and connecting with allies at bike projects like the Watsonville Bike Shack. Along the way, they raised over $15,000 for Cycles of Change - money that went directly to support Cycles of Change programs to get youth and adults in the East Bay on bikes.

As one participant said, “by the end of the ride, I knew that I’d remember this experience for a lifetime”. Another called it “...one of the best ways imaginable to spend a weekend!”

Bike Down 2014 is about building - building community with Cycles supporters, staff, volunteers, (and you!); building the grassroots movement to support the next generation of youth leaders; and building the capacity of Cycles of Change to provide bike education and resources to more people each year.

By supporting the bike down riders in meeting their fundraising goals, you'll be helping Cycles continue to offer school based education programs, paid youth internships, and friendly, accessible bike repair services at the Bikery, our community bike shop in the San Antonio neighborhood in East Oakland.
