In Prince George's County nearly 500 children and youth are in foster care. These victims of abuse and neglect face years of constant change as people and homes rotate in and out of their life. What these youth need is a consistent person on his or her side advocating for their needs and helping to find a safe permanent home. A CASA Volunteer is the answer.
Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)/Prince George's County trains and supervises community members to be voices for our most vulnerable population. A CASA Volunteer is the eyes and ears for the courts, helping to make meaningful recommendations on behalf of the youth that he or she advocates for. From helping to identify a relative who could provide a safe permanent home, to helping a young adult navigate their pathway into adulthood, a CASA is a consistent partner in what is an otherwise unstable or inconsistent period of their developing life.
By joining the 2016 CASA Champions, you can help bring a voice to more children in foster care. May is National Foster Care Month. During this important awareness month we hope to improve the lives of children living in foster care. Until we find a way to end abuse and neglect, with your help we can make sure that those children who are already in foster care are provided a consistent, caring voice.
