The Junior Relay at the Giant Steps Charity Classic is a fun and engaging event that brings together some of the best youth riders on the horse show circuit in support of their deserving peers in the therapeutic riding world. All monies raised support the Christina Piatti Memorial Scholarship Fund at Giant Steps, which ensures that no client is ever turned away for lack of means.

Traditionally, the Junior Relay is held during the Giant Steps Charity Classic horse show at Sonoma Horse Park. This year, we cannot hold the Junior Relay in the Grand Prix arena on the Friday evening due to restrictions from Sonoma County, so we are changing it up!

How to join:

  1. Click "Join This Event" above, and create a fundraising page for yourself/team
  2. There are two ways to fundraise:
    • Share your fundraising page link for single donations
    • Want to up the ante? Have your donors pledge to give based on how many times you complete the relay course, which will be at the Giant Steps barn! Share this form with your donors to complete their pledge. Either way you choose, you will still need to create a fundraising page.
  3. Visit Giant Steps at Sonoma Horse Park throughout the week of the Charity Classic to complete the relay course. Click here to sign up. Teams may sign up for one time-slot per day--either team member may compete; one person may be allowed on the course at a time. Due to COVID-19, please do not visit the property other than at your allotted time. Course is available to complete July 28-August 1, 11 am-3 pm. You will have 15 minutes to complete the course as many times as you can. You will be allowed to complete the course up to 50 times total.
  4. All donations and pledge forms are due by midnight on Saturday, August 1st in order to be counted for prizes.  Payment of the pledges are due by August 7th. Teams must raise at least $250 to participate in the relay.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place on fundraising.

  1. Two pairs white Harcour USA breeches, and $200 to Malibu 5Star Naturals
  2.  $500 to SmartPak, and $200 to Malibu 5Star Naturals
  3. $200 to Malibu 5Star Naturals

All participants will receive a pair of Dreamers & Schemers boot socks.

Giant Steps clients, like many, have been financially impacted by COVID-19, so we anticipate that scholarship asks will increase. We definitely need your help to close that gap, and we know you’ll be successful, even if you don’t have the horse show atmosphere to motivate you. So please stretch outside your comfort zone to ask friends and family who might support our mission of providing adaptive riding to kids and adults who will benefit from it.
