This year, more than 76,000 Chicagoans experienced homelessness, and one in five households faced food insecurity. These challenges are being intensified by rising grocery costs and looming SNAP benefit cuts, impacting hundreds of thousands of Illinois residents, especially Black and Latino communities on the South and West Sides.

In response, we are hosting our annual Sleepout for Homelessness to raise critical funds for life-changing programs that help individuals and families move toward stability. This includes our direct grocery delivery service for youth and families who are doubled up and staying on the South and West Sides.

In both honor of our roots and a commitment to our future, we are returning to our historic home base at 530 W. Fullerton. During the unrest of the DNC, Church of Our Saviour opened its doors to young people seeking refuge from violence, offering sanctuary in its pews and a safe place to sleep under one roof. And just this past October, we celebrated another milestone there—the ribbon-cutting of Care for Friends’ first dedicated space.

To honor this legacy and the work still ahead, we are coming home and hosting this year’s Sleepout at 530 W. Fullerton.
