This summer, on July 19 I’m running my first half marathon, the 'Christmas in July Half Marathon and 5K' to raise money for a cause that means a lot to me, the Little Giraffe Foundation. This organization was started by my family in 2011 in memory of my sister, Cheyenne, who was born prematurely and passed away after six weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

The Little Giraffe Foundation was started by my parents, Mike and Amanda Santoro, after my twin siblings, Cheyenne and Evan, were born prematurely at just 25 weeks, each weighing only 1 pound. After going through the trauma of the NICU and losing Cheyenne, they wanted to help other families facing the same struggle. Since 2011, the foundation has delivered over 33,000 gift bags to 23 hospital in the Chicagoland area and across the nation, awarded over 150 support grants to dozens of hospitals across the country, and funded over $350,000 in medical research.

I’m putting together a team of runners and fundraisers to join me in this year’s race and support this important cause. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just want to walk the 5K, I’d love for you to join us.

We are also offering a free race t-shirt to everyone who signs up to fundraise!

Sign up at ChristmasinJulyHalfMarathonand5KChicago and let me know if you're interested in running and fundraising with me. Together, we can make a difference for preemie babies and their families!

Thank you so much for your support!

Nathan
