Together again!! Join us and Honorary Chairs, the Rocha Family, for Mississippi's Walk for Diabetes-Gulf Coast on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Jones Park in Gulfport!

Registration starts at 9 am, with the walk start ribbon cutting at 10 am

Walk, stroll, and roll with the DFM and help support Mississippi kids and adults living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes!

This year's walk theme is "Life is better when we walk together." I think we have all learned how important our support networks are in the past couple years. We all lean on others in some way: our health care providers, coworkers, friends, and family.

Many Mississippians lean on the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi to help them control their diabetes. DFM provides newly diagnosed children and adults with information appropriate to their age, teaches school personnel to care for students with diabetes, and assists people struggling with the new economic realities with life-sustaining medications and supplies.

Support those you love with diabetes by creating teams of families, friends, classmates, sports teams, Sunday school classes, and co-workers to walk in their honor! Individual walkers are also welcome as well as Virtual walkers/teams!

Thanks to the generous support of friends-friends like you- during the darkest days of the pandemic, we were able to continue our mission to improve the lives of children and adults living with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Your support enabled us to shepherd so many Mississippians living with diabetes through the COVID-19 crisis, which was particularly risky to them, and to continue our other important work. For instance, we were able to handle far more—and far more complex—patient assistance requests amid lost jobs and dwindling health insurance. We also provided our We Care 2 backpacks, filled to the brim with information, testing supplies, snacks, and our cuddly canine mascot- Sugar, to twice as many kids as we normally do.

Due to COVID-19, we ask that all attendees follow CDC and local guidelines pertaining to crowded outdoor events and:

  • Get vaccinated against COVID-19 or wear a mask when in an overcrowded area.   Masks will be available on-site.
  •  We also ask that attendees practice social distancing.
