Join us as we work toward our vision of a world where people of all abilities can live meaningful lives! As we move toward purchasing the land Gateway to the Arctic Camp is built on and becoming self-supported, we’re ready to Dig In and make this our best year yet.

Our Goal

This year, our goal is to raise $100,000 for Alaska’s youth and those with special abilities! The money we raise will go towards purchasing a tractor for the land that can move snow in the winter and plow our fields in the summer. Additionally, the camp will purchase two more greenhouses that will significantly increase the amount of food we can grow and donate each year.

Who We Are

Gateway to the Arctic Camp is non-profit, service-oriented agricultural camp that teaches its participants about the significance of serving those in need and the value of hard work. Participants have fun while learning about sustainability, farming processes, and stewardship of the earth. Gateway to the Arctic Camp provides a variety of programming, including sessions for individuals who experience disabilities. The resulting produce from the farm is donated to those in need or sold, with the proceeds directly benefiting programs that support the underprivileged of Alaska.

Gateway to the Arctic is committed to creating opportunities for people of all abilities and providing support to help them reach their potential. To that end, in addition to our camp programs, we have created inclusive job and internship opportunities in partnership with Nadon Family Home. These opportunities provide meaningful work for those with special abilities. We believe that regardless of ability, we all need help to reach our fullest potential, and we are committed to providing that support for our employees.

Gateway to the Arctic Camp was established in the summer of 2013 on 101 acres of leased Matanuska-Susitna Borough property. Since then, the land has been developed into a fully functional agricultural camp facility including three acres of gardening fields, a large high-tunnel, nine cabins, a main lodge facility, and more. The vast majority of this construction was completed by hundreds of volunteers donating tens of thousands of hours of their time to see our vision come to reality.
