We all have the Power to Turn Hunger into Hope!

Imagine being hungry and not knowing when you’ll be able to eat again. For one in seven adults living in the Ozarks, this is the reality of daily life. Right here in our communities, one in five children go to bed hungry. Grandparents choose between medication and groceries. Single parents work two jobs and still struggle to put meals on the table for their families.

To fight this epidemic, White River Valley Electric Cooperative is asking our communities to rally together for the Power to Turn Hunger into Hope campaign. 

In previous years, you may have seen employees at grocery stores collecting cash or food donations. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be doing the event virtually in partnership with Ozarks Food Harvest during Hunger Action Month.

Ozarks Food Harvest, founded in 1983, is the Feeding America food bank for southwest Missouri, serving 270 hunger-relief organizations across 28 Ozarks counties. The Food Bank reaches nearly 30,000 individuals weekly and provides more than 22 million meals annually.

The Power to Turn Hunger into Hope campaign will run throughout the month of September. All donations made to WRVEC’s campaign will remain within our five-county service territory. 

This fundraiser will benefit the following local pantries:

Least of These, Christian County

Christian Associates of TRL, Stone County

Christian Action Ministries, Taney County

Heart of the Hills, Douglas County

Ozarks County Food Pantry, Ozark County

Together, we have the power to turn hunger into hope.
