Jacob, now 24 years old, is the currently youngest West Virginian living with ALS. On March 16, 2022, Jacob was diagnosed with ALS. His diagnosis is a very aggressive genetic version caused by a FUS gene mutation. The life expectancy of this ALS version is 1 to 3 years, however, In May of last year, we began participation in a clinical trial at The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH. OSU is on the front lines of developing some incredible treatments which target these specific gene mutations.
Why am I telling you this? Because we need your help. We at TeamJacobWV are organizing our second annual “ALS Ride for a Cure” off-road adventure. We are raising AWARENESS and FUNDS to help support the study of affective ALS treatments… namely “The Ohio State University‘s neurology department and Dr Steven Kolb”, as well as “Racing for ALS” and the “ALS Association of WV”.
Efforts are underway to gather sponsors for funding this year’s event, which includes a full day at the Sanderson off-road trail in Charleston, WV. Additionally, all riders will receive a custom event Tshirt with YOUR business printed on the back*, #TeamJacobWV Wristbands, and a Unique event sticker. Jacob is an avid outdoorsman who loves off-roading, hunting, and pretty much any activity that involves being outside! Your donation is greatly appreciated.
