THANK YOU!!!

Update posted 8 years ago

Thank you to all the teams and donors who have participated in this fundraiser! We all really appreciate it!!!  Today is the last day of the fundraiser and we are well on our way to the $30,000 goal!

Thank you to Utah Minority Bar Association for selecting Rocky Mountain Innocence Center for this fundraiser!

“The Rocky Mountain Innocence Center never, ever gives up.” Herbert Landry, January 2017 Exoneree.

Rocky Mountain Innocence Center is the beneficiary of the fourth annual fundraiser for Utah Minority Bar Association. Each year, approximately 20 teams have come together to raise about $25,000 for a local non-profit. This year's beneficiary is Rocky Mountain Innocence Center (RMIC). RMIC's mission is to correct and prevent the wrongful conviction of innocent people in Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming.

RMIC currently has 42 active cases in various phases of litigation or investigation. These cases are managed by just two attorneys. One of the attorneys, Kurt London, started at RMIC as a 2L in the legal clinic, continued to volunteer as a 3L, and has been paid through a fellowship since graduating from law school last year. That fellowship expires this August. RMIC cannot allow this dedicated lawyer with encyclopedic knowledge of each case to leave.

RMIC must raise at least $50,000 to retain Kurt for another year. Some of these funds were raised during the recent Hope for the Innocent Breakfast. Our goal is to raise the remainder of these vital funds so that RMIC can seamlessly continue its work to correct and prevent wrongful convictions!

This year’s fundraiser will begin on June 1 and will conclude at UMBA’s annual Juneteenth event on June 15, details TBA.
