"For over twenty years Gordon College has been serving at La Casa De Esperanza, which is an orphanage just over the border in Tijuana, Mexico. The past two years I have had the opportunity to go and spend a week serving this orphanage in whatever way we can. For a majority of the trip we are just loving on these kids and spending quality time with all of them. Most of the time this includes just running around with them, but on many occassions I have had the opportunity to sit down with one of them and carry out a deep conversation. With a translator of course because my spanish is very poor. Going on this trip has shown me God's love in such a cool way that I never have been able to comprehend before. Just to see the children's eyes light up when our van pulls up their road and all of them come running up to the van waving at us. The awesome thing about the relationship that we have built with the orphanage is that each year new kids at the college get to go share an expierence with these kids and bring something unique to the orphange. Last year I had the unique opportunity to have a conversation with one nino where he expressed to me (at eight years old) how excited he gets each year when we come because he can tell how much we truly love them. That Gordon College is not just another group of people that gives them gifts and leaves, but instead spends quality time investing into each child. This is nothing that we can do on our own either, but by the grace of God who has given us the opportunity to go down and love on these kids. I cannot express enough how truly close to my heart these kids and this orphanage is and I just hope that at some point everybody has an opportunity to be blessed by a community of people like the orphanage and the ninos have blessed me."
