In the first phase of my service, I will remain in Washington D.C. and work in my spare time to provide administrative, marketing and business development support to TCJ.  To do this work, I need to raise a ministry budget in the coming months; I am hoping to raise a total of $6,600.00 to accomplish several goals in 2014:

• Establish status as a corporation for Teen Challenge Jamaica in the District of Columbia;
• Restore 501(c)(3) nonprofit status with the Internal Revenue Service;
• Launch a multi-faceted fundraising campaign;
• Expand marketing activities in U.S. and Canada through the development of brochures and postcards;
• Conduct outreach to churches and communities that might provide support the TCJ ministry;
• Establish a U.S.-based Board of Advisors to oversee the finance and accounting of U.S.-based operations; ensure that state and federal legal requirements are met; to cultivate opportunities for raising funds to support the vision for sustainability; and to provide a source of advice for TCJ in evaluating the cost/benefits of various business and programs.

I’m excited to report that VanNess Feldman LLP has agreed to take on TCJ as a pro bono client and assist with legal issues. The raised funds will be used to cover administrative fees for the IRS, D.C. and the PO Box, purchase of a color laser printer and necessary software, professional printing of brochures and postcards, postage, telephone and office supplies and some travel costs for outreach.
