Years of ethno-political conflict have rained heavy destruction on Northern Ireland, tearing communities apart. Yet the road to reconciliation between Protestants and Catholics is underway through the work of a number of organizations. One of these organizations is 174 Trust, located in Belfast and directed by a former Presbyterian minister, Bill Shaw. The vision of the Trust is to repair the broken community and the body of Christ in Northern Ireland by providing a recreational facility, open to both Protestants and Catholics—hosting senior groups, concerts and programs for children, particularly those disabled by Down syndrome and Asperger syndrome.
You can visit the Trust's website here: http://www.174trust.com/
We will partner with members of the Trust and hear their stories of movement toward a restored community, be an audience to government officials and program directors who come to talk about reconciliation, and we will spend time getting to know local children through the Trust's after-school programs.
Your support in prayer before and during our trip would be an enormous encouragement to our entire team. Please pray for safe travels, team unity, the 174 Trust and the people within Belfast whom we will be serving.
