New River Expedition

Join the New River Expedition, a paddling adventure and peer-to-peer fundraising event that gives paddlers a way to protect the New River watershed while having an adventure on the New. We are doing 50 miles on the New River for our 50th Birthday, and hope you do too! Each paddler that completes 50 miles receives a special edition paddle medallion. 

Our goal: connect more people to the New River,  raise awareness and funds for New River Conservancy's mission and work, and to gain new members.

Our staff will be paddling 4 different sections of the New River throughout the summer to highlight what they are passionate about in the watershed. You can sponsor one of our staff by looking on the leaderboard for their names.  All our staff trips will be highlighted.  

You can join them, or do your own "50 for 50" by yourself (although it's way more fun with a team) or a partner or a team.  You can fund raise for NRC or just join in the fun with a $25 donation.  

Participants can do the 50 miles in one trip, or break it up into sections. Single paddlers track their own 50 miles, while team mileage can be cumulative. For example: The Hellbenders, a team of 5, can paddle 10 miles and count that as 50 miles!  

Fundraising can be done by mile, just like an old school walk-a-thon, or by trip.  Your sponsors can sponsor each mile you finish, or your entire trip. For example: John Salamander has a neighbor that is sponsoring $2 per mile, that sponsor will donate $100.
