Out in the Open connects rural LGBTQ people to build community, visibility, knowledge and power. We are a small, trans-led, 100% rural LGBTQ organization, dedicated to our values of anti-racism, embracing intersections, connections, and rural experiences, while celebrating resistance and queer joy along the way.

As a rural queer community, we take care of each other through acts of love, creativity, and resistance. We take care of each other by building a community where we are seen, visible, and powerful.

Join with us to uplift the voices and experiences of our most marginalized community members, organize for rural connection and collective liberation, and offer programs that cultivate a deeply interconnected network of rural LGBTQ people. 

Help create mutual support programs in accessible spaces to foster connection & queer joy in isolated places. Together we address cultural isolation, stigma, political invisibility & erasure to build LGBTQ leadership in the present, celebrate our histories, and manifest rural queer and trans futures.

You help provide care packages, educational materials, and other resources through the Rural Queer Community Care Network, and provide funds that are directly distributed to our community members through the Rural QTBIPOC/LGBTQ+ Mutual Aid Fund.
