In memory of our beloved coach and friend, Clay Holbrook

On Jan. 30, 2023 Meta coach Clay Holbrook passed away unexpectedly. We created a scholarship in Clay’s name to honor his legacy and provide scholarship funds to help cover participation costs for players in financial need. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation.

A great coach, an even greater person

Through his more than 20 years of coaching, Clay was a steady, unassuming, caring and committed to each and every player — guiding them, laughing with them, crying with them and being the rock they (and their families) could always lean on.

There would not be a MetaSport without Clay Holbrook. Since our start in 2016, players came to Meta to be coached by Clay. He was the draw, they followed him. In the 7 years he coached with Meta, he had an impact on hundreds of players - during games, in winter training, summer camps, and training sessions with coaches.

Everyone knew Clay. And he knew every player he coached, down to their core. Clay understood what made them tick and enjoyed working with each individual, helping them become a part of a team. He focused on pushing players to not only perform at their best but also be good humans.

Ask anyone who knew Clay and they will tell you that his strong physique was only outmatched by his huge heart and unassuming character. He was a great coach and an even greater person.

Clay built the teams that will last a lifetime. He built a place where players and people belong and will belong forever.

We will always remain grateful for the time we had with Clay and we thank his wife, Andrea, and his children and grandchildren and for the countless hours they allowed us to have Clay on and off the field.
