It's time for Representation through Improvisation! We have just 10 days to raise $20,000 for Theatre of the Oppressed NYC's 2017 Legislative Theatre Festival. Give $10 or more on one of our Catalyst’s pages!
We made this fun video to explain the campaign - check it out!
How does Legislative Theatre work?
WATCH original plays based on urgent issues from actors’ lived experiences
ACT out creative solutions to challenge systems of oppression
VOTE on policy changes that YOU proposed and make your voice heard by city legislators.
Why is it important right now?
In 2017, creative, participatory democracy is more important than ever. This year, we’re calling ourselves Injustice-Busters, inspired by last summer’s Ghostbusters remake:
While some people pretend oppression is not real, TONYC doesn’t ignore the facts. We acknowledge the stories of people who are facing oppression, and we’re always experimenting with new strategies to fight injustice.
TONYC brings the fight right up to City Hall with Legislative Theatre, now in its fifth year.
And honestly, didn’t the recent story about TONYC’s office space adventures in the Village Voice remind you of how the Ghostbusters end up working from above a Chinese restaurant?
Donate today, support a Catalyst by donating to their campaign, and help us give every New Yorker the opportunity to Watch, Act, Vote for FREE at the festival in May 2017.
