The Greater Illinois Pediatric Palliative Care Coalition is a local organization dedicated to improving the quality of and broadening access to end of life care for children faced with terminal illnesses.  GIPPCC's goal is to ensure that no child, least of all one who has suffered in life, should have to suffer in death.

We will profoundly transform the Greater Illinois Pediatric Palliative Care Coalition through our School Chest contributions.  Due to the organization's grassroots, small-scale but large-impact nature, our funds will go a long way in promoting their mission of improving access to comfort care for children with terminal illnesses.

We will fund three initiatives:

1. Telemedicine program that connects suffering pediatric patients with their doctors through iPad technology from home.

2. Warrior Grant mentorship program that trains promising medical professionals to administer state of the art palliative care for children.

3. New and improved Nurse Navigator program- a resource for families caring for a seriously ill child to seek out better and more comfortable care for their children.

School Chest 2015's impact goes beyond just funds.  School Chest 2015 will honor and remember the lives of Keegan Grant and Tierney Grant, who both would have advanced through the Deerfield Public Schools system and to Deerfield High School.  Keegan would have been a member of this year's graduating class had he survived his bout with leukemia.  Mimi Noonan, mother of three, became involved in GIPPCC after losing Keegan and Tierney, two of her three children, to terminal illnesses. She has since become the Vice President of GIPPCC.  She is a Deerfield resident, the Cross Country & Track and Field Team Mom, and a hardworking veterinarian.  Mimi and her children serve as this community's inseparable bond and commitment to GIPPCC's urgent and impactful cause.
